DVD/CD Laufwerke
Bitte haben Sie Verständnis dafür, dass Sony Optiarc trotz sorgfältiger Recherchen keine Haftung für die Richtigkeit oder Aktualität der erteilten Informationen übernimmt.
Selbsterstellte DVD lässt sich nicht auf anderen Laufwerken oder Standaloneplayern lesen.
Folgende Kriterien sollten eine Lesbarkeit der selbsterstellten Medien gewährleisten:
Der Standaloneplayer oder das DVD Laufwerk muss den Rohling erkennen können. Bitte zuerst verifizieren, ob das entsprechende Gerät den jeweiligen Standard (+R/+RW/+R9 DL oder -R/-RW) unterstützt. Original DVDs haben den Standard DVD-ROM, es kann durchaus möglich sein, dass ihr DVD Laufwerk oder Standaloneplayer nur diesen Standard akzeptiert, nicht aber DVD+R und DVD+RW oder auch DVD-RW. In dem Fall sollten Sie den Hersteller von Ihrem Laufwerk, bzw.
Standaloneplayer nach den unterstützen Formaten fragen, ggf. die Spezifikationen des Gerätes anfordern, so fern diese bereits nicht im Handbuch des betreffenden Gerätes enthalten sind. Die Aussage oder Angabe " Supports all DVD formats - Unterstützt alle DVD Formate " genügt in den meisten Fällen nicht.
Das richtige UDF Format
Mit dem UDF (Universal Disc Format) lassen sich Dateien unter Verwendung eines DVD Videorecorders auf wieder beschreibbaren Medien ändern, löschen, verschieben...usw. Unterstützt wird für Video DVDs nur das UDF-Format 1.02. Die Versionen darüber werden nicht akzeptiert. Einige Brennersoftwares verwenden jedoch z.B. das UDF-Format 1.50, wodurch die Video DVD nicht mehr "lesbar" wird.
Die richtigen Dateinamen beachten
Viele DVD Standaloneplayer registrieren nur Dateinamen mit maximal 8 Buchstaben, die Dateien selber dürfen nicht Größer sein als 1GB und der Video_TS Ordner muss physikalisch zuerst angelegt werden.

Ich kann aufgenommene Video nicht abspielen
Mit Ausnahme von DVD + RW, müssen alle Medien finalisiert werden, bevor sie abgespielt werden können. Das Problem kann auch von der Marke der eingesetzten Medien Stammen. Die Liste mit den empfohlenen Medien finden Sie in unseren Downloadbereich.
Is there a bit-setting tool available to change Book type media to DVD-ROM?
The DVD writers we sell in Europe do not need a bit setting tool because they are already set to the most compatible condition. But in some cases it is not compatible to older hardware equipments or standalone DVD players.
All DVD AD series drives have the following book types : (DVD-R = -R; DVD+R = +R; DVD-RW = -RW und DVD+RW = +RW)

My drive was won't burn to DVD's.... The drive does work with CDR/RW media.
Restoring your system to the last know good configuration in Windows 2000 and XP should fix the issue. Below are instructions how to do this.
Windows 2000 Last Known Good Configuration Instructions
1. Click Start, and then click Shut Down.
2. Click Restart, and then click OK.
3. When you see the message Please select the operating system to start, press F8.
4. Use the arrow keys to highlight Last Known Good Configuration, and then press ENTER. NUM LOCK must be off before the arrow keys on the numeric keypad will function.
5. Use the arrow keys to highlight an operating system, and then press ENTER.
***Note
Choosing Last Known Good Configuration provides a way to recover from problems such as a newly added driver that may be incorrect for your hardware. It does not solve problems caused by corrupted or missing drivers or files. When you choose Last Known Good Configuration, Windows 2000 restores information in registry key HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet only. Any changes you have made in other registry keys remain.
Windows XP Last Known Good Configuration Instructions
If Windows does not start, restart Windows by using the Last Known Good Configuration feature:
1. Start the computer and then press the F8 key when Windows begins to start. The Windows Advanced Options menu appears.
2. Use the ARROW keys to select Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked), and then press ENTER.
3. If a boot menu appears, use the ARROW keys to select Microsoft Windows XP, and then press ENTER. Windows XP restores the computer to the most recent restore point.
If Windows XP Does Start
1. Log on to Windows as Administrator.
2. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Restore. System Restore starts.
3. On the Welcome to System Restore page, click Restore my computer to an earlier time (if it is not already selected), and then click Next.
4. On the Select a Restore Point page, click the most recent system checkpoint in the On this list, click a restore point list, and then click Next. A System Restore message may appear that lists configuration changes that System Restore will make. Click OK.
5. On the Confirm Restore Point Selection page, click Next. System Restore restores the previous Windows XP configuration, and then restarts the computer.
6. Log on to the computer as Administrator. The System Restore Restoration Complete page appears.
7. Click OK.
Troubleshooting
You may inadvertently restore Windows XP to a previous configuration that you do not want. To undo the restoration:
1. Log on to Windows as Administrator.
2. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Restore. System Restore starts.
3. On the Welcome to System Restore page, click Undo my last restoration, and then click Next. A System Restore message may appear that lists configuration changes that System Restore will make. Click OK.
4. On the Confirm Restoration Undo page, click Next. System Restore restores the original Windows XP configuration, and then restarts the computer.

Troubleshooting

If I try to play a game, I get an error indicating my optical drive is not detected.
Disable your native Windows XP burning software. Also go to Device Manager, under the IDE ATA/ATAPI Controller, change the IDE controller to a Standard Dual Channel controller.
Go to:
1. Right Click My Computer
2. Choose Properties
3. Choose Hardware
4. Choose Device Manager
5. Click the + in front of IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers
6. Double Click the Intel IDE Controller
7. Click on the Driver Tab
8. Choose Update Driver
9. Choose Display a List..
10. Choose Next
11. Choose the Standard IDE Controller
12. Click Next
Make sure you reboot the system so the changes take affect
Some writing softwares don’t burn or produce error messages.
Our DVD writers AD-series and ND-series do not support "Mt.Rainier" function on the hardware side, only “InCD” from Nero for CD-RW and DVD+/-RW media is supported.
If you have writing problems with a special application, please verify with their manufacturer, if “Mt. Reinier” is needed.

Unsere DVD Laufwerke erfüllen RPC spezifiziert in SFF8090v3
(RPC-2 Verfahren). Die Filmindustrie ( http://www.dvdcca.org/ )
hat für DVD Video Filme die Welt in 6 Regionen aufgeteilt
und spezielle Codes erstellt.
1: Nord-Amerika
2: Japan, Europa, Mittlerer Osten, Südafrika
3: Südost-Asien inkl. Hongkong
4: Australien, Neuseeland, Zentral- und Südamerika
5: Nordwest-Asien, Nordafrika
6: China
Dieser Regionalcode ist vorgegeben und international gültig.
Jeder DVD Video Film enthält daher diese Kennung für die Region
für die er hergestellt wurde. Diese Kennung wird vom DVD-ROM
Laufwerk gelesen, um zu überprüfen ob der eingelegte Film für
die Region hergestellt wurde in der dieser nun wiedergegeben
werden soll.
Stimmen Region Kennung von Laufwerk und Film nicht überein,
ändert das Laufwerk seine Kennung - jedoch nur bis zu 5 mal.
Die fünfte Änderung entscheidet die endgültige Einstellung des
DVD-ROM Laufwerks bezüglich des Regionalcodes. Nach dieser
Festlegung kann das Laufwerk nur noch DVD Video Filme lesen
deren Kennung mit der des Laufwerks übereinstimmen. Diese
Vorgehensweise ist durch RPC-2 vorgeschrieben.

WinXP reports "New Hardware AD-754xA Found" and want to install actual drivers.
Please try the following steps:
You need to switch to your “DRIVERS” folder.
Then change or delete the folder “MONITOR”.
Switch to “C: WINDOWS”.
Ensure that you have windows explorer setting options activated to see all data (also hidden and system files)
Switch to “C: WINDOWSINF”
Look for the “INFCACHE.1” file and delete it.
Switch to your desktop trash can and empty it.
If the problem cannot be solved, please contact the manufacturer of your notebook.
